Port of Port of Spain
At
the base of the West Indian archipelago beats a strong and vibrant
heart – Trinidad’s thriving Port of Port of Spain. Since
a sea-change in its fortunes in 1994, the port- which in 1999 celebrated
its 60th anniversary as a recognized maritime facility has grown
from strength to strength and is now in the midst of a corporate
programme that will forever alter the face of the Caribbean transshipment.
Geographically, the Port of Port of
Spain is ideal for maritime traffic, providing a natural harbour
on Trinidad’s northwestern coasts where adverse weather conditions
are extremely rare. These ideal conditions, augmented by a skilled
and dedicated workforce, have enabled the Government of Trinidad
& Tobago to implement an operational and marketing strategy
that will enforce the Port of Port of Spain’s position as
an economic hub for years to come.
The Port of Port of Spain
provides many services, these include:
- public international cargo-handling facilities
for containerised, break-bulk, Roll-on/Roll-off and dry/liquid
